Monday morning duldrums....

Good Morning, Family and Friends wherever you are, It is 4:48 AM and I am already in the doghouse....well, in a manner of speaking. I got up with Mommy this morning, said my good mornings to Daddy and let him scritch my ears for a minute or two.....or three.....I sure do like scritching.....and went outside to do my usual morning business. It is a beautiful morning! Sorta warm, or at least warmer than it has been of late, and dark as the ace of spades, black as Toby's ass.....Toby is the dog down the road......anyhow, my whole body began to tremble and I knew I had to pound paws....humans say beat feet, but my feet are paws, get it?? I knew it was the right time for a walkabout and I headed for the woods. Oh, I won't go into the woods.....too scary back there, but sometimes you just have to push the boundaries, ya know? I'm usually not allowed to go off the mowed part of the lawn, but this morning? That unmowed part called to me......"Juni.....come see what's out here.....find the crow Daddy shot and rub your neck in it.......find the deer poop and roll your body in it..." and so on. I swear to you, I heard the calls just as clearly as you can read this. And being the good girl that I am, I heeded those calls! Yes, I heard Daddy call me, too.....and I wanted to go home, really I did. I wanted more scritching, and a cookie, and breakfast.....but, oh, I so wanted to roll in all those good smells........it was powerful, the pull.....but Daddy and good common sense won me over, so I abandoned the smells and pounded paws for home. Daddy was mad.....he'd called me several times, then got out the whistle and blew it a couple of times, and believe me, I hustled as fast as I could......but he knew where I'd been and he used that angry voice and now I'm in my kennel and will be here for awhile until he gets over his mad and lets me out.
